LILIN IP installed at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons

lemanoirlogoLe Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Raymond Blanc’s luxury restaurant and hotel in Great Milton, Oxfordshire is one of the UK’s most prestigious establishments. Home to The Raymond Blanc Cookery School, it has held two Michelin stars for 29 years, has trained numerous Michelin starred chefs, won many awards and become a destination of choice.

It was unsurprising that when Le Manoir’s management team updated their CCTV system specifications were extremely stringent. The system had to be simple to use and offer a discreet HD IP solution that blended into the listed buildings. LILIN’s IP Video products were the perfect solution.

Transition from analogue to IP
le-manoir-shot-1G4 Communications, the trusted IPCCTV integrator, were assigned the task of replacing the outdated infrastructure and implementing a new system to provide coverage of Le Manoir’s grounds. The existing system at the restaurant and hotel had not yet seen the benefits of HD quality images and was proving costly to manage. After careful consideration of Le Manoir’s requirements, G4 Communications had no hesitation in putting forward LILIN as the provider.

With over 32 years CCTV experience and one of the leaders within the IP Video market, G4 Communications were sure that LILIN were the right choice for the Le Manoir project. LILIN’s understanding of new products, innovations and technologies has seen them embrace HD IP; in fact they have trained over 500 installers to date in the transition from analogue to IP Video.

The LILIN solution was designed around Le Manoir’s need for flexibility, simplicity and their commitment to environmentally- friendly products and energy-saving technology. G4 Communications and LILIN recognised these stringent demands necessitated the installation of a sophisticated, effective, surveillance solution with minimal impact on visitors.

G4 Communications selected 25 x LILIN 720P IP iMEGAPRO network cameras which were installed in strategic locations to maximise the efficiency of the system and monitor vital areas throughout the property.
A key element was the involvement of the staff whose knowledge proved invaluable, for example, they helped with the correct positioning of cameras and provided vital information on potential trouble spots. Also installed was a management PC, 5 x Ethernet switches along with LILIN CMX software used to monitor and control the cameras.

Control of the system
1By connecting the cameras into the central monitoring solution within the maintenance room at Le Manoir, Csaba Balogh, the Back of House Manager, is able to maintain strict control over the movement of persons entering the grounds of the hotel and restaurant, monitor any location from multiple review points on the network and easily share incidents captured on video. This provides peace of mind for guests and staff alike.

With the new LILIN network cameras and central video management system, Le Manoir is able to expand coverage beyond what its older analogue system could provide. The installation went well and was completed without any disruption to Le Manoir or its guests. Dave Allen, Managing Director at G4 Communications commented “The LILIN IP CCTV system gives Le Manoir the quality of service and flexibility, which it requires for external coverage”.

Investing in a ‘future proof’ technology was essential to Le Manoir. LILIN’s IP video systems allow full integration, giving Le Manoir the opportunity to add to the system if desired. This could mean, for example, integration with other intruder or fire alarm systems that are directly linked to the security system and allow for an immediate, integrated response.

Future upgrades

Le Manoir wanted to safeguard their investment with their chosen system ultimately providing the best of both worlds – protecting their property, providing access to the benefits of advanced network video technology and the ability to add to the system at a later date. Already the management team at Le Manoir are looking to upgrade all the internal CCTV cameras across the site. Gurval Durand, Deputy General Manager at Le Manoir said “We are pleased with the new CCTV system and the support G4 has provided”.

VD022

The VD022 standalone HD decoder from LILIN is the simple monitoring solution to connect to and display live images from LILIN IP cameras.

In locations where only live video display is required— such as a store entrance, the VD022 provides the solution to connect a camera to your IP system.

Without the HD decoder it would not be possible to view camera images on a monitor unless you used a PC or NVR. In most environments this is not a feasible option; there is either no room for a PC to be positioned next to a monitor or it can’t be built into the surrounding wall or ceiling.

The smart solution to expanding your IP system, the HD decoder allows you to connect a monitor with a single camera or 4 cameras as a quad view. As you can incorporate numerous HD decoders into your IP system it is possible to have multiple monitor locations.

The virtual matrix functionality of the VD022 standalone HD decoder also allows the viewing of Network and Digital Video Recorders from a remote location. Just by adding the device to your existing LILIN system and connecting to a HDMI monitor it is possible to view your 16 channel NVR/DVRs and HD IP cameras.

The LILIN HD Decoder decodes full 1080P video at up to 30FPS. The unit can be controlled by an IR remote control, keyboard, web interface or touch screen monitor – so changing your displayed cameras is easy.

“Fundamentals and IP systems covered, real demonstrations on working products, genuine information on all IP hardware, with no hard sell,” just one of the ways IP Bootcamp was described by participating installers last week. Further comments included, ‘a very good insight into IP workings and operations, easy going with a touch of humor’, ‘a well presented hands-on session’ and ‘excellent, most useful, ten out of ten’. The testimonials provided by attendees confirmed the value of the free training session; guests left having developed their knowledge, increased their confidence, and felt ready to enter the demystified world of IP. It is therefore no surprise that IP Bootcamp has become a hot topic for discussion within the industry.

Having been greeted with hot bacon rolls and drinks, attendees filed into a room specifically set up to accommodate the practical session. Multiple workstations equipped with network cables, RJ-45 crimp tools, testers, HD IP cameras, NVR’s, switches and injectors were set, each enabling hands on access for all attendees throughout. Ian Leroux, LILIN’s product trainer kicked off with an introduction addressing the difference between analogue and IP before going on to explain the fundamentals and architecture of IP.

IP Bootcamp was designed after LILIN made a decision to help train security installers and increase the awareness of IP video in the market. With an aim of training 1000 installers within the next year, LILIN are committed to helping installers understand the simplicity of IP, removing the fear and improving the adoption of IP throughout the UK.

If you missed out this time, fear not as some dates for 2013 have now been confirmed. IP Bootcamp will continue to take place in further UK cities next year and remains completely free. The second roadshow will travel to London, Brighton, Nottingham and Liverpool with monthly sessions held at the UK Headquarters in Milton Keynes. Each location is strictly limited to 25 attendees and are quickly filled so call 0870 120 5550, email uk@meritlilin.com or visit www.lilin.co.uk today to reserve your place.

LILIN delivered ‘the complete HD experience’ at Skydd 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden last week.  Those who visited the LILIN stand learnt about three innovative HD IP technology solutions; the NVR Touch, the HD Decoder and the latest generation of iMEGAPRO cameras.

LILIN demonstrated the recently launched NVR Touch; the world’s first standalone NVR that enables simultaneous recording of 16 HD IP video channels at 25 FPS. In addition to familiar DVR-style controls, a unique multi touchscreen interface allows for simple operation. The touch screen operation was demonstrated and projected onto large monitors, grabbing the attention of many.

The latest iMEGAPRO range received constant attention due to the 3MP quality delivering stunning low light images. Sense Up+ technology, a unique feature of LILIN cameras, utilizes intelligent image signal processing, providing the ultimate low light image without motion blur. Available models include CS mount box cameras, vandal-resistant domes, mini-domes, the world’s first external HD IR camera with a 60m range and the world’s smallest 1080P camera.

LILIN’s HD 1080P real-time decoder was also on show. Enabling full screen or quad viewing of HD IP cameras streamed directly to a monitor without a PC, the decoder has a HDMI output and benefits from keyboard control enabling up to 255 cameras to be selected. As another product to benefit from brilliantly simple touch screen control, LILIN’s decoder is the most cost effective way to get HD IP video direct to your monitor.   The HD decoder won the ‘innovative achievement’ award at the Detektor awards ceremony held in conjunction with the exhibition. Jason Hill, Group Vice President of LILIN collected the award during a ceremony attended by 550 invited guests, “We were delighted to be nominated for an award, but to receive the innovation title is brilliant.
